BlockchainDriven consultant and project lead, Nick Walker, recently moderated the recent "Blockchain of the Future: Smart Cities, Media, Smart Contracts & Beyond" event in New York City which featured speakers from AirSwap, Civil, Vice Media, and Economic Development Corporaton NYC (EDCNYC).
It was an eye opening event with incredible turnout, discussing the local and global impact of blockchain technology for the public, affecting smart cities, media, everyday transactions and more in the short and long term. Smart contracts, the role of crypto for the mainstream public, how blockchain changes city infrastructure, were all discussed at length.
The speakers emphasized a need for greater understanding of the technology, not just corporations and investors, but from the public as well. With such great potential, blockchain will be affecting everyone's lives in the next 5 to 10 years and it's beneficial to learn what it is, how it's used and what impact it'll have.
